The Veteran Affairs (VA) Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System/Department of Medicine at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA seeks full-time Addiction Medicine Physician in the Medical Service

Seeking Addiction Medicine board certified internist for the Greater Los Angeles (GLA) VA. The VA is mission-oriented and provides exceptional care to those who have served in our nation’s military. GLA VA has a world-class team of internists, psychiatrists, behavioral scientists, psychologists, and clinical researchers who are specially-trained in the treatment of substance abuse disorders (SUD). GLA treats patients with these disorders in inpatient, outpatient and residential domiciliary settings.

GLA VA is one of the largest VA systems in the country and it is the only VA that provides housing to a substantial number of Veterans on campus. Our program currently provides housing to over 1,000 Veterans and families and will be expanding soon to provide for 3,000 in the near future. Given high rates of SUD in this population on campus, there is a great opportunity for expansion of our addiction medicine program, including in the domains of clinical, research, and implementation science.

The GLA VA is affiliated with David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. The successful applicant must qualify for an academic appointment at UCLA as a clinician-educator, or higher, and have interest in teaching and developing a curriculum to teach Addiction Medicine to medical students, internal medicine residents and other trainees.

Successful candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, a track record of leading teams, a strong background in clinical excellence, and commitment to improving Veteran health and well-being.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Education: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine.
  • Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Must be Board Certified or eligible in Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine

  • Competitive Salary Range: starts at $270,000 + up to $15,000 annual performance-based award, final salary determination depends on qualifications and experience.
