Associate Director for the Grayken Center for Addiction at Boston Medical Center

Seeking a talented and visionary addiction specialist to help lead the Grayken Center for Addiction at Boston Medical Center (BMC). The Grayken Center is an endowed center that acts as an umbrella over all of BMC’s many addiction-focused initiatives. BMC is the largest safety-net hospital in New England and the principal academic teaching hospital for the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. This position will help guide and lead the Grayken Center’s initiatives and collaborations that promote addiction treatment, prevention, education, research, and policy within BMC and at the local, state, and national level.

The Associate Director (AD) will report to the Executive Director for the Grayken Center as well as to the Chair/Chief of their academic division. This will be a full-time position through the Boston University Medical Group (or other relevant departmental appointment) and the Associate Director role provides 40% protected time. The remainder of the individual’s time will be spent on clinical, educational, or research pursuits, depending on their professional interests, experience, and research funding. The AD will be recommended for an appointment to the faculty of the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Key qualifications:

  • Clinical/academic:
    • MD in a discipline relevant to addiction
      • Board certified in primary discipline (internal medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, etc)
      • Board certified or board eligible in Addiction Medicine/Psychiatry
      • Full MA medical license will be required

OR

  • D. in specialty relevant to addiction with extensive relevant professional experience.
  • Leadership:
    • Prior leadership experience in a matrixed organization
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills
    • Passionate commitment to improving the lives and care of people with substance use disorders, enhancing systems of care, and providing inspiring organizational leadership

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of excellence and a professional reputation at the regional or national level based on their work in the addiction field.
